"The Lord Will Perfect ..."

The LORD Will PERFECT …

Psalm 138:8



Have you ever felt like things can't get better, or if they were it would be a long time before they actually did? We have all had these moments, but it's good to know that God knows these things as well. God knows all of our issues... those things that we keep bottled up inside feeling too ashamed to tell others, but silently vowing to God that if he would just bring us through we will give him free reign in our lives. Those things that we may tell to others, but only part of the story for fear of being judged and cast away. You know the type of issues I'm talking about. Thank God for his word!! I love the fact that God loves us sooo much that he gives us all the answers through his word.



So, this is for the person who feels like I do sometimes … that nothing I do will bring a difference… that my walk and my witness are not as effective as I think … you know, those thoughts that the enemy wants you to think so that you will not do what God has called you to do. I have an encouraging word from the Lord, found in Psalm 138:8, which says:



"The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands."





The Lord is willing, but he's willing to do more than just save us. He is willing to "perfect" us! What does this mean though? To "perfect" means:



- being entirely without fault or defect: flawless

- pure; total

- complete

- mature

- improve, refine



God is willing to do all of this for us but it doesn't stop there. Not only is the Lord willing to "perfect" us but the verse says that he will perfect that which concerneth us. Isn't it great to know that God can make us right? He will not just make us right, but everything connected with our lives will come into order! "Concern" means:



- to be a care, trouble, or distress to

- to be of importance: matter



In other words, our "issues" … the "stuff" that we deal with on a daily place … whatever is not right in our lives, God will make them right. We simply have to make our lives available for his control



" … Thy Mercy, Oh Lord, endureth for ever:"



"Mercy" is God's way of showing how much he loves us by allowing us to experience things that we do not deserve. I am so happy that the Lord's love is real unlike our love towards each other sometimes!! The best thing about it is that his mercy endureth for ever. It is never ending … there is nothing that we can do that can "turn off" God's mercy towards us … he means what he says and his continuous loving actions towards us proves this fact.



".. for sake not the works of thine own hands."



The verse ends simply by asking God not to turn away from the work he has already started. To "forsake" means:



- to quit or leave entirely: withdraw from



Oh My! Can you imagine what your life would be like if God decided one day to just stop "being" God in your life? If God decided to "quit" or leave entirely … there would be no sunshine… no air… no rain… no wind… we would never see a new day again because we would die! Thank God his love is forever… his mercy is forever… his grace is forever… HE… the One and only TRUE GOD is FOREVER! We should be grateful that God does not forsake his role in our lives!



As we prepare for a new year … some of us can look back and see areas where we have grown … there are other areas that aren't as bad as they started out this year and there are still areas that we are still struggling in. Let us be encouraged by the word that says,



"The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me."



As we release ourselves to the power and control of God, we experience growth and as we experience growth we get power and when we get power, we see not only our lives change but EVERYTHING and EVERYONE connected with us!
